Events Volunteer (Football Fun Activity Volunteer)
Broadway Gallery are looking for volunteers to inspire the public to get involved in a One-on-One Football Fun event in the town centre on Saturday 22 June as part of an exciting new exhibition 'Striving For Unity: 35 Years of Khalsa Football Academy (KFA) in Letchworth Garden City and across the world'.
KFA is an organisation which operates in Letchworth and supports young people through futsal/football and physical initiatives that challenge stereotypes and racism. KFA promotes healthy living, tackles anti-social behaviour and provides a platform for vulnerable people.
One-on-One Football Fun for all will take place in our 'Panna Cage' on Leys Square, on Leys Avenue in front of the Gallery, on Saturday 22 June from 11:00 to 16:00. We need volunteers to make this event a success by encouraging the public to take part in the activity, managing the free tickets to play, giving out prizes and encouraging players to visit the special exhibition in the Gallery afterwards to learn all about KFA and its important mission. During the afternoon the Gallery will also be screening a live Euro 2024 match (Georgia vs Czech Republic), turning the seating area into a 'fan zone' with snacks and refreshments available.
One-on-One 'Panna' is a new format of football where the focus is on defeating an opponent either with goals or by gaining an instant win by performing a 'Panna' or 'Nutmeg' by playing the ball through the opponent's legs. A special Panna Cage is being constructed on Leys Square for this, incorporating goals and a high circular fence to contain the ball during play.
